Yuki Suetsugu’s Chihayafuru manga is getting a 3rd live-action film, with Suzu Hirose returning as Chihaya Ayase. Titled Chihayafuru: Musubi, the film will act as the conclusion to the live-action trilogy. Now, the film’s staff are teasing it with a brand new trailer, which also announces details about the film’s Japanese release:

The video not only talks about Chihayafuru and karuta, but also reveals the film’s 17th March opening in Japan. Aside from the new trailer and release date, the staff also revealed its new poster visual:

Several cast members will also be returning from the first two films, and they are:

  • Mackenyu as Arata Wataya
  • Mone Kamishiraishi as Kanade Ooe
  • Yuuma Yamato as Yuusei Nishida

  • Hiroya Shimizu as Akihito Sudou
  • Mayu Matsuoka as Shinobu Wakamiya
  • Miyuki Matsuda as Taeko Miyauchi

Director Noihiro Koizumi, who is also returning from the first two films, revealed that this film’s story takes place two years after the events of the second film. He said it will focus on the love triangle between Chihaya, Taichi, and Arata, as well as settle Chihaya and Shinobu Wakamiya’s rivalry once and for all. As for the film’s script, Koizumi has announced that Suetsugu-sensei herself has already approved of it.

The first film, Chihayafuru: Kami no Ku, premiered in Japan back in April 2016, while the second film, Shimo no Ku, premiered a month after.
