Legendary anime director and Gundam franchise creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino doesn’t mince words. He has gained a reputation for criticizing the anime and gaming industries, as well as modern-day seiyuu. He even went as far as saying that seiyuu these days all sound the same. Let’s just say that he’s not a big fan of the new crop of seiyuu. However, the opinionated director surprised everyone when he showed up to a concert by the seiyuu group, Sphere.

The Gundam Reconguista in G twitter page revealed that Tomino did indeed attend the Sphere concert. They also added that this is his first idol concert as well. It also seems that he attended the seiyuu group’s concert to “study”. Well, at least it looks like he enjoyed himself…

As for Sphere, this serves as the seiyuu unit’s final concert before going on hiatus. The group previously announced their plans to take a break as a group to “recharge” themselves. Renowned seiyuu, Minako Kotobuki, Ayahi Takagaki, Haruka Tomatsu, and Aki Toyosaki, comprise the 4-member group. Together, the four seiyuu performed theme songs for Ika-Musume, Bakuman, Yatterman Night, and many more as the unit, Sphere.

However, the group clarified that they will only be taking a break from music and touring together. This means that they will still be making appearances in shows together as sphere, but will be focusing more on their individual activities. They also said that they will continue their work as seiyuu.
