Considered the largest naval battle in history, the Battle of Leyte Gulf not only affected the Philippines’ history, but the whole world’s as well. Now, Kantai Collection, or KanColle, is taking on such a huge historical event. In fact, the event is so big that the developers divided it into two separate events! They launched the first event last 17th November, and will then continue with the second part in winter 2018.

So far, the first part features four maps, and yes, it focuses on the Philippines. And like previous KanColle events, they are also adding four new ship girls! These four ship girls joining the game are:

Coastal Defense Ship Sado (E-2 Clear reward)

Coastal Defense Ship Tsushima (E-2 Random Drop)

Aircraft-Carrying Submarine I-400 (E-3 Random Drop)

They will also be adding the Akizuki-Class Anti-Air Destroyer, Suzutsuki. She will serve as the final reward for clearing the final map, E-4.

Like most KanColle events, the new event maps will employ rules such as land-based air support and ship locking. Players can also choose their difficulties, whether it be Easy, Medium, or Hard. It is also advisable for players to use ships which historically participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. This includes the “Southern Force” or Shima Fleet, and of course, the ill-fated Nishimura Fleet. And speaking of the Nishimura Fleet, the event also adds a new mechanic where admirals can use seven ships! This means that they can use all seven members of the Nishimura Fleet. They are Yamashiro (sunk), Fusou (sunk), Mogami (sunk), Michishio (sunk), Asagumo (sunk), Yamagumo (sunk), and the only survivor, Shigure.

Good luck admirals!
