Looks like it’s not just One Piece that has a live-action Kabuki play because Naruto is getting one as well! The Shinbashi Enbujou theater in Tokyo will be showing a unique Naruto stage performance using traditional Kabuki elements. They will run the Kabuki play starting August 2018.

Minosuke Bandou will be playing Naruto Uzumaki, while Hayato Nakamura is playing Sasuke Uchiha. Meanwhile, Kabuki playwright, G2, will be writing and directing this traditional Japanese stage play.

The staff still haven’t revealed any further details for this new manga-based Kabuki play yet, so expect more announcements soon.

Fellow Jump manga, One Piece, also has a Kabuki play, and it starred Ennosuke Ichikawa IV as Luffy. However, the Kabuki actor stepped down from his role as Luffy after an accident onstage.
