C3 AFA Singapore 2017 will be held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 24th to the 27th of November 2017! It’s time for the biggest Japanese pop culture event in South East Asia, and is the #1 event for fans of anime, cosplay, and anisong in the region. Singapore welcomes back one of its own, as (almost) Permanent Resident May’n makes her tenth consecutive appearance at I Love Anisong! May’n very graciously took a few questions from us here at WOW Japan.

Congratulations! You’ve performed at 10 consecutive AFAs! How do you feel about being the first artist to reach this milestone?

I am very happy to be able to see AFA grow up close every year, it’s so exciting! I am so grateful! The very first time I did a concert overseas was at AFA SG, and it was a turning point that really changed my life. This is really a very important event for me.

You have recently taken up the guitar. How is that experience like?

It’s been about a year and a half since I started learning, and my repertoire has increased little by little! I even played “Diamond Crevasse” in one of my previous lives! I will keep doing my best!

In your new album Peace of Smile, songs do you think currently represents you best as an artiste?

It is lead song “Shine A Light”. It is the lead song of my first album in four years, so I definitely want to sing it the way I am right now.

It’s been 13 years since my debut. I’ve had a lot of memorable encounters and a lot of cherished memories. And it because of that, from now and in the future, I am looking forward to it very much. I get excited about it myself, and hope all my friends feel the same. I will continue believing in myself, and in all my friends! That’s the kind of positive song this number has become.

Is there a particular artiste you would want to collaborate with, and who?

In the previous Anisama (ED. Animelo Summer Live), I san with LiSA-chan! It was really fun! I want to sing with her again!
