Despite the recent controversies of micro-transactions and loot boxes we can take solace in the fact that conversations on the issue have begun in the mainstream, not just within the gaming community. It will be interesting to see how the industry moves forwards following said conversations. Maybe in 2018, we will see companies take the first steps out of the age of the micro-transaction.
