Looks like Roy Mustang’s first seiyuu is going on hiatus for a while. Mausu Promotion president, Takako Hasegawa, announced that seiyuu Toru Ohkawa is taking a break from voice acting. This is because the seiyuu has to rest and concentrate on treating an unspecified illness.

However, while they didn’t reveal his illness, Mausu Promotion will announce the time frame for veteran seiyuu’s return. Ohkawa is currently working on several anime, and will also voice a character in an anime next season. This means that the hiatus might truly affect the casting for several anime he’s voicing characters for. Next season, Ohkawa will be voicing Ichinosuke Okajima in the upcoming winter anime, Killing Bites. The agency didn’t specify if he already completed recordings for the role either.

Right now, he’s voicing Saber of Black’s master, Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia in Fate/Apocrypha. However, fans know him as Roy Mustang’s first seiyuu, voicing the fiery alchemist in the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime. He also voiced Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Sengoku Basara franchise, as well as narrated Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Get well soon Tohru Ohakawa!
