Global streaming service, Netflix, recently released their schedule for premieres for the month of February 2018. Among these are several new films and series, as well as a few Netflix originals. However, the schedule surprised many fans, as it listed the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film to premiere on 19th February.

What surprised many the most is that Netflix listed the film as a “Netflix Exclusive”. Warner Bros Japan, which produced the film, previously announced that it will premiere across 190 countries. However, aside from North America and Europe, they didn’t reveal any further information. This Netflix streaming may be what they’re talking about. The film’s staff previously promised that its international release will be the “biggest of any Japanese film to date.”

The film topped Japan’s weekend box office in its first week, and impressed plenty of fans in the process. It also has IMAX and 4DX screenings in Japan as well. The live-action adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s international bestseller stars Ryousuke Yamada as Edward Elric, while Atomu Mizuishi voices Alphonse Elric. Tsubasa Honda plays Winry Rockbell, while Dean Fujioka plays Roy Mustang.
