The Seiyuu Awards recognises the achievements of various seiyuu within the Japanese voice acting industry. This year, the awards will be entering its 12th iteration, and they’ve now announced the winners for their various special awards. These include the Merit Award, the Kei Tomiyama Award, and finally, the Kazue Takahashi Award.

Merit Award
For seiyuu who have contributed to various genre as well as foreign works through the years.

Hiroshi Masuoka (Sazae-san’s Masuo Fuguta and Anpanman’s Jam Ojisan)

Tomie Kataoka (Cowboy Bebop’s VT and Whoopi Goldberg’s Japanese dubber)

Kei Tomiyama Award (For Male seiyuu who broadened voice acting to every form of media):

Cho (One Piece’s Brook and Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger narrator)

Kazue Takahashi Award  (For Female seiyuu who broadened voice acting to every form of media):

Miina Tominaga (Sazae-san’s Katsuo Isono and Rurouni Kenshin’s Yahiko Myoujin)

The committee will also be revealing the full list of winners on 3rd March. The winners will include the usual Best Actor, best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Actor, as well as the Synergy Award. They will also broadcast the awarding ceremony on Japanese TV as well.
