After revealing actor Souta Fukushi as Ichigo Kurosaki, the live-action Bleach film finally reveals its female lead. After starring as Rin in Blade of the Immortal, actress Hana Sugisaki is taking on yet another action role in Rukia Kuchiki. In fact, the staff revealed her in costume, both as a student and a shinigami.

Aside from acting as Rin in Blade of the Immortal, she also happens to be a seiyuu as well. This is because Sugisaki also voiced Mary in Mary and The Witch’s Flower. But her seiyuu roles don’t just end there, as she also voiced Sayaka in Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There.

Shinsuke Sato, who will be directing the film, is certainly no stranger to manga with connections to the afterlife. This is because he previously directed the two live-action Gantz films. The film’s story will follow the manga’s first major arc, which is the “Substitute Shinigami” arc.

The staff will be making more announcements during the Tanabata festival, which has some strong connections with Bleach because of Orihime and Hikoboshi.
