Global streaming service, Netflix, may already be giving us plenty of great anime, but they’re aiming to produce some themselves. They recently announced that they have formed a “comprehensive business alliance” with both Production I.G. and BONES. Together with these two anime, they will be directly involved in producing anime episodes, and then streaming them worldwide across 190 countries.

The Production I.G. collaboration will also include their sister studio, WiT, which gave us Attack on Titan. Production I.G. also owns Xebec and Signal.MD, but they didn’t say if Netflix will produce anime with them.

Netflix has been aiming to strengthen its Japanese anime line-up since last year. They have since introduced plenty of popular anime, including Godzilla, Fate/Apocrypha, Kakegurui, Devilman Crybaby, and of course, Violet Evergarden. With this announcement, they are further strengthening their anime line-up to 190 countries worldwide. They describe the relationship as a “win-win-win” for its members, anime creators, and anime production.
