A place further than the Universe, or Sora Yori Mo Tooi Basho, follows four girls as they travel to Antarctica. After a few bumps along the road, the girls are finally on their way to the frozen continent. However, before they even embark on their journey, they had a little stop over in this island nation called Singapore. Have you guys heard of that country? And as usual, like most travelers, their journey started in Changi Airport. They even talked about the MRT!

The episode also featured Ion Orchard, and also the Orchard MRT station exit. Singaporeans, as well as people who;ve already visited Singapore, praised Madhouse for their attention to detail in animating these places. Looks like they’ve really done their research, huh?

The anime also featured Orchard Road, Tangs Plaza, Wheelock Place, Esplanade Bridge, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, and of course, the Singapore Flyer.

And of course, what Singapore episode would ever be complete without Singapore’s iconic symbol, the Merlion?

The girls also spent some time in the Marina Bay Sands as well. And it seems that for their stay in Singapore, they slept at the Orchard Hotel. The episode also featured a familiar convenience store chain…

But what really got the locals talking is the girls eating at what seems to be the Maxwell Center. It even features a few stalls you may be familiar with. Finally, thanks to a lost passport fiasco, Hinata and Shirase got their punishment… eating durian. Well, that looks more like a reward rather than a punishment to be honest. And Shirase seems to like it in the end too! And yes they also ate Chicken Rice!

Sadly, it looks like they only spent one episode in Singapore. They’re flying to Australia next before finally getting on a boat to Antarctica. Hopefully, Shirase finds her mom, an explorer who got lost in the continent. After all, she likes durian, and anybody who likes durian is a great person in my books.

Also, mad props to MadHouse for the attention to details for the anime.
