After getting new Batman Ninja x Pop Team Epic Nendoroids, Popuko and Pipimi are at it again! This time, they star in a new Warner Brothers Animation clip as Popuko becomes the Batman, while Pipimi becomes the Joker. The clip shows the two doing their usual “Are you upset?” gag with a Batman twist.

Kouchi Yamadera, who voices Batman in Batman Ninja, voices BatPopuko. Meanwhile, Wataru Takagi voices her arch nemesis, Pipimi Joker. Kamikaze Douga, which animates both Pop Team Epic and Batman Ninja, also animated the clip.

Meanwhile, Batman Ninja director Junpei Mizusaki says that Popuko’s relationship with Pipimi is kinda similar to Batman and Joker. In a way, that may be true because Batman fans all agree that Batman and Joker are the two sides of the same coin. This also goes for Pop Team Epic’s duo as well. And we’re not even going to the fact that Pop Team Epic’s craziness may also reflect Joker’s madness.

As for Batman Ninja, the staff previously revealed the film’s Japanese theatrical release date, which is in 15 June 2018. They also revealed the new anime film’s cast, and they are:

  • Takehito Koyasu as Gorilla Grodd
  • Atsuko Tanaka as Poison Ivy
  • Junichi Suwabe as Deathstroke
  • Chou as Penguin
  • Toshiyuki Morikawa as Two-Face
  • Kenta Miyake as Bane
  • Yuuki Kaji as Robin
  • Kengo Kawanishi as Red Robin
  • Daisuke Ono as Nightwing
  • Akira Ishida as Red Hood
  • Houchu Ohtsuka as Alfred

While Kevin Conroy mostly voiced the Dark Knight in games and animation, Kouichi Yamadera will be taking over in the new anime. And while Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, proved he’s also a great villain seiyuu as Mistah J, veteran seiyuu Wataru Takagi will be voicing the infamous Joker. Finally, Ai Kakuma will be voicing Catwoman, while the Rie Kugimiya will voice Harley Quinn.

Here’s how Warner Brothers describes the film’s story:

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies – including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family – to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.
