The full version of the ad spans two minutes, with music by SUKIMASWITCH.

Unless you were living under a rock, then you would have heard about the new 30-second ad for Taisei Corporation directed by Makoto Shinkai. What’s gotten this advertisement a lot of attention regionwide is the fact that it’s set in Singapore, and features the construction of the new Thompson East Coast rail line. But what a lot of fans don’t know is that this ad is actually part of a series, and that the complete version spans over two minutes long — featuring not just Singapore, but Turkey, Sri Lanka, and Japan as well!

The music for the video was provided by Japanese jazz duo SUKIMASWITCH, who collaborated with Shinkai and Taisei Corporation for this one of a kind ad. SUKIMASWITCH is composed of core members Takuya Oohashi and Shintarou Tokita, and they first came into prominence for their song “Zenryoku Shounen” from the Nintendo DS game “Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan”. They have also provided theme songs to popular titles such as “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”, “Haikyuu!!”, “The Last: Naruto the Movie”, and “Naruto Shippuden”.
