Two of the biggest franchises in Japanese animation history, Gundam and Detective Conan, are actually teaming up! This is to promote their respective upcoming films, which are both appearing in one collaboration poster:

But what does Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin: Rise of the Red Comet and Detective Conan: Zero’s Executioner have in common? Well, veteran seiyu Tohru Furuya is voicing main character roles for both anime. Of course, he’s reprising his role as Amuro Ray in Gundam, while he voices Tohru Amuro in Detective Conan. In fact, mangaka Gosho Aoyama named Tohru Amuro, whose real name is Rei Furuya, as a combination name of the seiyuu’s name and his Gundam character. He also did this for the character of Shuuichi Akai, whose seiyuu is Shuuichi Ikeda. Of course, Ikeda voices the Red Comet himself, Char Aznable, in the Gundam franchise.

Aside from the main characters, the poster also features comments from Gosho Aoyama, Tohru Furuya, and Gundam the Origin chief director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. Several movie theatres will display the poster starting 18th May, while both films’ official websites will also do the same. Both films are already showing in Japan.
