A special farewell ceremony for Studio Ghibli Co-Founder and Director Isao Takahata, was held last 15th July 2018 at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka City, a suburb of Tokyo. The much-beloved director of such movies as “The Princess Kaguya”, “Grave of the Fireflies”, and “Pom Poko” passed away at age 82 last 5th April 2018.

The event was attended by his friends and contemporaries, including Studio Ghibli compatriots director Hayao Miyazaki, producer Toshio Suzuki, and composer Joe Hisaishi. Anime luminaries who came to pay their respects include Yoshiyuki Tomino, Mamoru Oshii, Youji Yamada, Junji Iwai, Shinji Higuchi, Nobuko Miyamoto, Shouko Honna, Miori Takimoto, Toshiro Yanagiba, and many others.
