Japanese love puns, and they love them so much that they even make certain celebrations based on them. One of these is Maid Day, which comes from a pun of Meido, the Japanese pronunciation of Maid. The Japanese word for the number 10 is “Do”, and they celebrate Maid Day on 10th May, or May 10. In other words, they celebrate Maid Day on “May Do”. And to celebrate the day, several Japanese cosplayers dressed up as maids on the 10th of May! It even trended on twitter with the hashtag
