Germany-based film company, Constantin film, is adapting Capcom’s Monster Hunter video game franchise into a live-action film. Now, they have revealed that it will star Mila Jovovich, who also starred in another Capcom video game adaptation, Resident Evil. The film itself is also bringing back the staff from the Resident Evil franchise as well. Not only will the Monster Hunter film include Constantin Film and Mila Jovovich, but also director Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt. The production company, together with the actress, director, and producer, all worked in all live-action Resident Evil films.

And also like the live-action Resident Evil films, they will also be filming in Cape Town, South Africa. The company also stated that they will begin filming this September in that city.

Constantin will partner on “Monster Hunter” with “a big company” in Japan and another in China, both of whom will take equity in the project. According to the company’s Martin Moszkowicz, they are now on the “final stages” of making a deal. He also stated that the film itself will be “a highly stylish big screen adaptation of the video game.”

As for its special effects, Toronto’s Technicolor-owned Mr. X will be providing them. Given that the monsters are somewhat the real stars of the franchise, the staff will surely have to give a lot to them.

They also confirmed that Constantin is also working on the Resident Evil reboot. However, Moszkowicz stated that they’re “still working on it creatively”. He also said that they’re also taking a look at making it a TV series instead.
