Popular singer-actor Masaharu Fukuyama — who is best known for his roles as Manabu Yukawa in “Galileo” and Sakamoto Ryouma in “Ryoumaden”, has been cast by Director Mamoru Hosoda in his upcoming movie “Mirai of the Future”. Fukuyama’s role is only given as “Young Man”, and his key involvement in “Mirai of the Future” is still kept under wraps.

Director Hosoda and Fukuyama are said to be close friends, and the actor has stated that he is delighted with the opportunity to work with the talented animation director. He also expressed his concerns about his lack of experience, as this is his first role in a a feature length animated film.

“Mirai of the Future” is slated for release on 20th July 2018. The story revolves around a precocious 4-year-old boy named Kun, who encounters the future version of younger sister Mirai. The film will be premiering at the the 71st Cannes International Film Festival in France this week.
