Home-grown Singaporean makizushi (rolled sushi) chain Maki-san comes full circle as the popular chain opens its first location in Japan! The new store will be located in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district, and will offer Maki-san’s signature “60% Singaporean, 20% Japanese, 20% Original” menu.

With 17 locations spread islandwide, and a robust local delivery service that offers customizable makizushi, salads, and platters, Maki-san is looking to set Japanese palates ablaze with their uniquely Sinaporean concoctions in a familiar Japanese form.

Their most popular items include an ayam rendang roll (fried chicken), a nasi lemak roll (coconut rice roll), and otah tempura (fish cake tempura) — all given whinsical names that are sure to stick to mind.
