Let’s face it, anime-related apparel such as shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and caps are pretty gaudy and toe the line of good taste. But that’s about to change as Japanese street style brand “NA is the Name” is releasing an understated collection with the upcoming second and third seasons of “FLCL“.

With only a simple logo declaring this line’s association with one of the seminal TV series of the Y2K generation (and one of the jewels on GAINAX’s crown), you could pass off these shirts as the entry-level line of an expensive designer label (Y3 as opposed to Yohji Yamamoto?). The collection is available now via the NA is the Name online store.

FLCL tells the story of Naota Nandaba, a twelve-year-old boy whose life is disturbed by the arrival of the alien woman Haruko Haruhara. It first aired in 2000, and in 2016 the second and third seasons were announced to the surprise of fans everywhere. FLCL Progressive and FLCL Alternative will hit Japanese cinemas in September 2018.
