For seven straight weeks since its premiere, Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer dominated the Japanese weekend box office. It was so dominating that it stayed at the top of the rankings at #1 for seven straight weeks. However, for its 8th week, one particular superhero film managed to finally dethrone Conan. And that film is none other than Deadpool 2!

Fox’s Deadpool 2 earned 375 million yen on 239,000 admissions last weekend, thereby taking first place. Here are the Japanese weekend Box office rankings from 2-3 June 2018 based on weekend ticket sales:

1 (new). “Deadpool 2”

2 (new). “50 First Dates”

3 (1). “Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer”

4 (2). “Tsuma yo Bara no youni: Kaziku wa Tsuraiyo III”

5 (3). “Peter Rabbit”

6 (new). “OVER DRIVE”

7 (4). “Koi wa Ameagari no Youni”

8 (12). “Saraba Seishun, Saredo Seishun.”

9 (5). “Yu-zai”

10 (7). “Nomitori Zamurai”

Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer was so dominating at its 7-week run at the top that this year’s biggest worldwide box office hit, Avengers: Infinity War, never topped the Japanese chart. However, everything changed when Thanos’s own arch nemesis in the comics, Deadpool, arrived. The Japanese dubbed version of Deadpool 2 finally took over the #1 spot, breaking the 4th Wall in the process. And yes, Deadpool has one-upped Thanos… AGAIN. Just Deadpool being Deadpool I guess.
