“>“Peacemaker Kurogane” -– the epic tale of the battles of Kyoto’s special police force the Shinsengumi, set in the waning years of the Edo Bakufu Era, continues on the big screen 15 years after the TV anime series made its broadcast debut in 2003.
The manga series of the same title by artist Chrono Nanae, that the anime series and movie were based on, had its serialisation run in Monthly Comic Blade – released under manga publisher Mag Garden – from 2001 to 2010.
Serialisation went briefly into a hiatus period before it continued again under Mag Garden’s web-based distribution “Web-Comic Beat’s” in late-2011, and has continued with irregular chapter releases since then until presently.
In commemoration of the animation movie’s opening in major cinemas nationwide in Japan on 2 June 2018, Mag Garden has unveiled a series of “countdown illustrations” by Chrono Nanae and nine other of their affiliated manga artists as congratulatory tribute.
