Macross Delta first aired in September 2016 as the fourth television series set in Shouji Kawamori’s Macross universe. The story happens eight years after the events of Macross Frontier. A remote part of the Milky Way Galaxy is plagued by the Vár Syndrome, a mysterious pandemic which turns people violent for no apparent reason.

The idol unit Walküre’s songs counter the effect of the Vár Syndrome, and use it to assist a strike squad of Valkyrie pilots waging war against those who would use the virus for their own agenda. The theatrical adaptation “Macross Delta The Movie: Gekijou no Walküre” was released in Japan this 9th February 2018.
