The traditional art of “Edo Kiriko Glass” – sometimes also known as “Edo Glass” in short – is the craft of handmade blown-glass technique passed down since Japan’s Edo Period. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry designated this traditional craftsmanship of glass-making as part of “Tokyo’s Traditional Craft” in 2014, as it is a cultural heritage art form meant to be preserved in modern Japan.
