The series creators, designers, voice casts, production team and staff members of the animated movie “Detective Conan – Zero the Enforcer” gathered at an undisclosed hotel in Tokyo on the evening of 26 June 2018 in a private “uchiage” (lit. after party) to celebrate the movie’s megahit box-office success. The party also saw cause for a double celebration for the 55th birthday of “Detective Conan” series original manga’s creator – Mr. Gosho Aoyoma!
The movie’s main character is a Japanese police officer named Rei Furuya – also known by his aliases of “Tooru Amuro” / “Bourbon” in the series – was affectionately nicknamed ‘the 8-billion dollar man’ by Japanese media. He was thus called because the movie’s box office ticket sales grossed at the total sum of JPY 8.36 billion at the end of its 11-week-long run – from 13 April – 24 June 2018 in Japan cinemas nationwide (data accurate as of 26 June 2018). This box office gross-sale is equivalent to nearly USD 75.5 million!

And the star of the party was no doubt Rei Furuya’s voice actor – the veteran seiyuu Tooru Furuya. The voice actor obligingly struck the same pose as his character’s life-sized cardboard standee for a commemorative photograph.
Also present at the party – its inanimate special ‘VIP guest’ – was none other than the stylish white Mustang RX-7 sports car, complete with her Shinjuku car plate. That’s right! The very sports car that Rei Furuya drove in the “Detective Conan” series! And of course Furuya-san (the voice actor) HAS TO pose for pictures with this car! The voice actress for the anime series’ prodigious main character Conan Edogawa – Minami Takayama, resplendent in her tailor-made Conan-inspired blue suit – also joined in for a pair-shot.
Tooru Furuya later posted these three photographs online via his official Twitter post. The post has since garnered over 52,000 likes and been shared in more than 20,000 retweets since it went public. “Detective Conan – Zero the Enforcer” movie is currently showing in Singapore until 4th July 2018.
