When the good’ol RX-78-2 Gundam appeared in Ready Player One, Gundam fans were screaming in glee. And now, it looks like Gundam’s Hollywood presence is getting a lot bigger. This is because during the Sunrise panel during Anime Expo 2018 in Los Angeles, they announced a live-action Gundam movie!

Sunrise President & CEO Yasuo Miyakawa announced the film himself during the panel. He said that they will be teaming up with Legendary pictures for the film. The Sunrise CEO also confirmed that both companies are working together for the film’s scenario. The panel also shared a teaser video and noted that “co-production has begun”.

However, they didn’t reveal much information about the film yet. We also don’t know if this is an original story or if they’re adapting a Gundam anime into live-action. It looks like we would have to wait a bit more for announcements, so stay tuned over here at Wow Japan soon.

Aside from Miyakawa, several big names from both parties also appeared during the panel. They are Legendary’s Executive Vice-President of Production Cale Boyter and Bandai Namco Holdings President and Representative Director Mitsuaki Taguchi.
