“Nighty Night, Sheherazade” follows the daily (nightly?) life of Asato Nito and Shie Herazato, who share a dorm room at the prestigious Chiya Gakuen girls academy. Shie is a year older than Asato, is a known beauty on campus, and has a reputation as a “sorceress”. As the two roommates have a hard time falling asleep, they share stories about movies they have seen.

The first volume covers their (somewhat questionable) reviews of major films, including the movie version of John le Carré’s novel “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, the Wes Anderson-directed adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”, the now-infamous Japanese horror flick “Ju-on” (“The Grudge”), Makoto Shinkai’s smash hit “Your Name.” (“Kimi no Na wa.”), the Beat Takeshi starrer “Outrage”, South African scifi film “District 9”, Bollywood comedy “3 Idiots”, and Clint Eastwood-directed Kevin Costner drama “A Perfect World”.
