Yes folks, they really did it, Sengoku Basara is really getting a high school spin-off anime. Titled Gakuen Basara, the new anime reimagines the legendary Sengoku figures as high school students and staff. And now, the anime’s own staff have revealed a brand new PV, as well as a new key visual:

The new PV confirms that Gakuen Basara will be making its premiere on 6th October 2018.

In this new anime, it will feature Sengoku figures like Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura as high school students. As for its story, it seems that it will be revolving around a school’s student council elections. Specifically, Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura battle to replace Toyotomi Hideyoshi as the new Student Council President. Kazuhiro Nakai reprises his role as Date Masamune, who this time is his school’s 1st-year baseball ace. Meanwhile, Souichiro Hoshi will be voicing soccer team ace, Sanada Yukimura.

Brain’s Base will be animating the project, with Minoru Ohara at its helm as the director. And since they are basing it on CAPCOM’s bestselling game, the company’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Makoto Yamamoto are supervising,

TBS announced the new series back in 1st April, and because of this, people thought it was an April Fool’s joke. However, they have confirmed that this is an actual legit TV anime series. Expect the staff to announce more details in the future.
