It’s the hottest summer anime party in Malaysia! Get ready for Penang Anime Matsuri on the 7th and 8th of July 2018 at the SPICE Convention Center! Local fans get to experience the best of anime, cosplay, and gaming, plus two nights of I Love Anisong featuring BAND-MAID, Konomi Suzuki, Shiena Nishizawa, and the always amazing Luna Haruna!

Luna Haruna is one of the most popular and busiest anisong singers in Japan, and we at WOW Japan are thrilled that she has taken time out of her packed performance schedule to answer a few questions from us for Penang Anime Matsuri. Check out her interview below!

Is this your first trip to Penang? What are you looking forward to? Is there any Malaysian food you would like to try?

It’s not just my first time in Penang, but it’s also my first time in Malaysia as well! I heard that various cultures exist in Malaysia, so I am very excited to see them. I also heard that there are lots of cheap and delicious food, so I’m looking forward to it!

Currently I have a weekly show on the internet streaming site “SHOWROOM”, and since I am already in Penang, I’d like to find the time to do it during my stay. I would like to introduce Penang to everyone in Japan and around the world!

Congratulations on your new single “JUSTICE”! Please share some thoughts about your latest release. What was the easiest thing about doing the single? What was the most challenging thing?

I usually prefer lolita fashion, and the basic hairstyle is wearing your bangs down, but this artiste photo was taken with my bangs brushed away from my face. As for the music, I have sung pop and rock songs, and also some jazz to include a wide range of styles, but “JUSTICE” has a very heavy rock sound, so I wanted to feature a brand new Luna Haruna to match the photo! From completion to release, I can’t wait to share this with everyone!

This song is the opening theme of “Fate/EXTELLA LINK” game for the PlayStation® 4 / PlayStation® Vita. Since the title “Fate” itself is a very popular work, and the fans are quite fond of the series, I feel a little apprehensive about connecting well with the audience.

Do you get nervous about performing new songs onstage? How do you deal with it?

I am always nervous before singing onstage, but I am particularly nervous when singing new songs. So I ask the staff to hit me on the back, and it’s like turning a switch on inside myself.

If you were not a singer, what kind of job would you have wanted?

I love anime, so I would like to work in a store selling anime goods. I am interested in any job that’s related to anime!

Lastly, please leave a message for your fans in Malaysia.

It’s my first time in Malaysia, so I am very much looking forward to seeing you all enjoying the music! Please come and watch the live! Let’s have a happy time with music and animation together!
