Looks like the live-action Gintama show won’t just feature Galaxy Express 999’s Maetel and parody Dragon Ball, but also show a very big connection with the TV anime itself. This is because the Queen of Tsundere herself, Rie Kugimiya, will be appearing in the live-action version. Specifically, she will be guest-starring in the Gintama 2: Yo ni mo Kimyou na Gintama-chan web series.

However, the staff didn’t reveal what her role exactly is. But knowing Gintama, she might just appear as herself or as another Kagura alongside Kanna Hashimoto, given the franchise’s Deadpool-like 4th wall-breaking tendencies. Her anime version might also appear, but no matter the case, the Tsundere Queen will be making an appearance.

As for the web show, the film’s director, Yuuichi Fukuda, is also directing it. It will premiere on 18th August via Docomo’s dTV streaming service. It will have three episodes and feature several characters from the sequel film, which itself premieres on 17th August. This includes Shun Oguri as Gintoki Sakata, Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura, Kankurou Nakamura as Isao Kondou, Yuuya Yagira as Toushirou Hijikata, and Ryou Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita.
