The staff and cast of the live-action Kakegurui TV series recently held a special fan event in Tokyo. And there, they dropped not one, but two huge bombshell announcements. The first is that the live-action series, which is based on Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura’s Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler manga, is getting a second season. The second big announcement is that it’s also getting a live-action film.

According to the event announcement, the 2nd season will premiere in MBS and TBS’ Dramaism bloc in spring 2019. Much of the cast from the first season will also be returning to reprise their roles for this new season. As for the film, they haven’t revealed much, except for that it will also debut sometime in spring 2019.

Netflix is currently streaming the anime adaptation, as well as the first season of the live-action series. Here’s how Yen Press describes the manga’s story:

Hyakkaou Private Academy. An institution for the privileged with a very peculiar curriculum. You see, when you’re the sons and daughters of the wealthiest of the wealthy, it’s not athletic prowess or book smarts that keep you ahead. It’s reading your opponent, the art of the deal. What better way to hone those skills than with a rigorous curriculum of gambling? At Hyakkaou Private Academy, the winners live like kings, and the losers are put through the wringer. But when Yumeko Jabami enrolls, she’s gonna teach these kids what a high roller really looks like!
