The TV anime adaptation of Eichiro Oda’s One Piece manga will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. And one of the big things happening next year is a new One Piece anime film! The anime’s official twitter page tweeted the announcement, which reveals its summer 2019 premiere in Japan.

Meanwhile, the anime’s official website has promised that this new film will be an “adventure of unprecedented scale”. But even with that promise, nothing much is still known about this new film. This will be the 14th film in the franchise, so expect the staff to go all out, as they did with One Piece Film Gold.

Oda-sensei officially launched his manga back in 1997, but before that, he released two one-shot manga titled Romance Dawn in 1996. The TV anime officially made its debut in 1999, with Toei Animation handling the production. However, before that premiered, Production IG launched an OVA which adapts Oda’s manga in 1998.
