Back in 2017, Production I.G. announced that they’re working on a new Ghost in the Shell anime project. And now, during the San Diego Comic-Con, Production I.G. USA president Maki Terashima-Furuta revealed more details about the new anime in an interview with the Nuke the Fridge gaming channel on YouTube. There, she revealed that the new project is a TV anime, and it won’t just have one season, but two.

Terashima-Furuta also stated that each season will be having a different director. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) will be directing one season, while Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) is directing the other one. However, the president didn’t reveal any further details. Expect Production I.G. to reveal more details, such as release date, title, cast, and story, in the future.

Back in September 2016, Kamiyama himself teased a new Ghost in the Shell project. He answered a fan inquiry about a new GITS anime at the time when he teased the project. He had told the fan that he wanted to report on new information regarding an upcoming GITS project, but can’t at that time. So, what do you think this new Ghost in the Shell anime project will be about?
