To promote its currently ongoing commemorative exhibition to celebrate the 50th Anniversary milestone of the magazine’s publication run, major publisher Shueisha – the company behind the popular Weekly Shonen Jump manga magazine – has released a set of four promotional videos via its official Youtube channel earlier this week.

What sets this series of videos apart from the norm is that popular characters from well-known Jump manga series published in the years 2000 and onwards are made to “interact” with each other in originally-scripted dialogue scenarios that gradually leads up to them mentioning the “Jump 50th Anniversary Exhibition Vol. 3”.

What’s more the pair of characters selected to star in each of the videos in the set was not chosen randomly, but because they both happen to share the same voice actor in their anime adaptation! In other words, for those Shueisha and Shonen Jump have ingeniously created a set of “naka no hito” (lit. ‘The person within’) interactive situational videos to promote the exhibition! Without further ado, let’s take a look!

First in the line-up features Toshiro Hijikata (from Gintama) and Roronoa Zoro (from One Piece) – both voiced by the veteran seiyuu Kazuya Nakai:

The second video in the set features Naruto Uzumaki (from Naruto) and Lambo (from Kateikyoshi Hitman Reborn!) – both characters’ voices provided by veteran voice actress Junko Takeuchi:

The third promotional video stars the hot-headed Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (from Bleach) and the charismatic Captain of the Hyotei Academy Tennis Club, Keigo Atobe (from Prince of Tennis) – both of whom are voiced by popular voice actor Junichi Suwabe:

Lastly, the final in the set stars the libero of Karasuno High School Volleyball Club, Yuu Nishinoya (from Haikyu!!) with the fiery-tempered deuterogamist ‘Kacchan’ – Katsuki Bakugou (from My Hero Academia) – both characters’ voices provided by popular seiyuu Nobuhiko Okamoto:

The “Jump 50th Anniversary Exhibition Vol. 3” is taking place at the Mori Arts Centre Gallery located at the 52nd floor of Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills; from 17 July 2018 to 30 September 2018.
