Remember the Endless Eight? You know, those eight episodes from the second airing of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, whicha re exactly the same as each other? Yes, that infamous arc which frustrated many fans, which many also say lead to the franchise’s decline. Well, it seems that it’s getting its own streaming event via Niconico Live.

And in the spirit of the arc, it will be an 88-hour marathon. The streaming event is titled “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu/Endless Eight 88-Jikan Nama Housou ~Oyoso 1/9077 Nagato Yuki Taiken~”, and it’s happening on 28th August at 8:00am JST. It will then end at around midnight on 31st August, completing the 88-hour marathon.

As expected, it will be showing the infamous Endless Eight arc, which the SOS Brigade relived countless times. Basically, they were stuck in a time loop, and the eight episodes were basically the same thing over and over again. Each episode in those infamous eight episodes featured the same story, but with small detail differences. These include the SOS Brigade members wearing different costumes or saying different words.
