Mashiro Ayano is currently on tour in Japan, and has just released a brand new single titled “Shoudou (Impulse)”. Despite her busy schedule, Mashiro has very graciously agreed to answer a few questions about her upcoming Indonesian performance and hew new single from us here at WOW Japan. Enjoy!

Is this your first time in Indonesia? What are you looking forward to in Indonesia? Is there any Indonesian food you would like to try?

I am visiting for the first time, so I want to try authentic nasi goreng!

Congratulations on your new single “Shoudou (Impulse)”! Please share some thoughts about your latest release. What was the easiest thing about doing the single? What was the most challenging thing?

It was a pleasure working with a lot input from the writers and the staff! It was chosen as the theme song of the TV anime “Record of Grancrest War”. It was pretty challenging to produce since you have to think about aligning with the world view of the work.

Do you do anything special to prepare before going onstage?

I do stretches to loosen my body. I also do a lot of exercise that helps define and tone muscles.

Do you get nervous about performing new songs? Hoe do you deal with it?

Normally just standing onstage makes me nervous, but during events where there are other performers onstage, I feel much more pumped. During solo concerts, I prepare myself on the day by focusing on feelings of happiness!

Is there any specific genre of music that you want to try out?

Recently I was a guest at a musical-style production, and I had a lot of fun at the event, so if I am given the opportunity I would like to try to perform in a musical. As for my music work as Mashiro Ayano, I want to discover a sound that will make my concerts even hotter for the audience!

If there was one artiste you could do a collaboration with who would it be?

It would be great if I could create a collaborative work with Tim Burton. I think we can do something really interesting!

If you were not a musician, what kind of job would you have wanted?

I really can’t imagine it but… right now, my work is basically expressing using my “voice”, so I think I would still be doing something else that is likewise expressive.
