Sherlock Holmes, the fictional genius (and slightly eccentric) private detective born of British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s imagination and the main character of his series of “Sherlock Holmes” case-files/novels. The literary character has also had his fair share of mass-media fame in recent years from all the movies and TV series adaptations (e.g. BBC’s series starring Benedict Cumberbatch) in the west; as well as games (e.g. Fate Grand Order) and manga adaptations in Japan.

According to Nijimen, recently a little hole-in-wall bar/cafe located in the city of Ikebukuro in Tokyo came under social media highlight. Going by the name of “Sherlock House“, the establishment apparently became very popular amongst fans of the detective, especially the ladies.  The owner of the place himself is a big fan of the original Sherlock Holmes series and  have furbished and decorated the interiors of the little cafe/bar exactly like how he has imagined the interiors of Holmes’ house in 221B Baker Street in London would look like! And from the photo above featuring what look to be like a quaint and cozy Victorian-English style drawing room or study with an attached bar, oozing faint masculinity charms, we can tell why this establishment has become an instant hit with the fangirls and Sherlock enthusiasts since photos of the bar’s interior first appeared on social media sites just barely weeks ago. For the more skeptical fans who are still not convinced, let’s take a look at some more photos!

The bar/cafe is conveniently located in the heart of Ikebukuro just a few minutes’ walk from both the Marunouchi and Yuraku-cho Metro subway lines (pictured below, provided by Google Maps). But since the establishment is a small one, tables and sitting spaces (yes, even the bar-counter seats) are limited, so it is better to make a reservation before dropping in!
