The legendary Shigeru Mizuki’s Gegege no Kitaro manga has been around since TV shows were still in black and white. Its first anime adaptation was even black and white. This means that many of the franchise’s fans are a bit older. And now, the series is treating its older fans for staying loyal through the decades with a new clothing line.

The clothing line has the theme of “Friends For Life,” which is especially true for older fans who have stuck with Kitaro since childhood. It will target women ages 30-40, and even the older fans as well. This just shows that Gegege no Kitaro’s appeal transcends generations of anime fans.

Mizuki launched the manga back in 1960, then got that black and white anime in 1965. It then received several more TV anime through the years, including the latest one which is currently airing. And do note that Mizuki did his manga with one hand, as he lost a hand as a soldier in World War II.
