Ghibli has now released a new picture book titled Totoro no Umareta Tokoro (Where Totoro Was Born). The book focuses on Tokorozawa, the forest which inspired My Neighbor Totoro, and its surrounding area, as well as its connection to Hayao Miyazaki himself. It will feature illustrations by both Hayao Miyazaki and his wife, Akemi Miyazaki. And now, the book is inspiring a new exhibition over at the Ghibli Museum.

The exhibition itself has already begun, though its tickets for this month already sold out before it even started. However, reservations for October are still very much open at the museum’s website. It will feature several of Akemi Miyazaki’s artworks from the book, as well as a few which aren’t found there.

As for the book itself, it’s now available in Japan for 1,296 yen. It features Akemi Miyazaki’s seasonal Home Town Sketch Diary, Toshio Suzuki’s guide to the area, as well as the world of Totoro from Hayao Miyazaki himself.
