In celebration of Japan’s Respect for the Aged Day, Satoru Noda’s popular award-winning manga “Golden Kamuy” has released an official one-shot spin-off titled “Silver Kamuy“. “Silver Kamuy” can be read for free online via Young Jump, and featured the entire cast of “Golden Kamuy” as — well, senior silver citizens.
“Golden Kamuy” tells the story of Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the Russo-Japanese War working as a miner in Hokkaido to support the widow of his dead comrade. He decides to search for a hidden stash of Ainu gold when he stumbles upon some clues leading to its possible location. He is helped by a local Ainu girl Asirpa, who rescues him from the deadly ice and snow of Hokkaido.
