E3 is considered to be one of the biggest gaming events on Earth. Let’s just say that it’s usually when game companies make their big announcements. After all, this is the event where Sony and Microsoft revealed the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox ONE. However, it seems that Sony is breaking from tradition as they won’t be at E3 next year!

The Entertainment Software Association, as well as Sony, have both confirmed the news. In fact, the latter released a statement regarding this. “As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community,” said Sony in a statement. “PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

Sony also didn’t do their annual PlayStation Experience event this year. Of course, this is made fans wonder why they’re not doing two of the biggest game events in the world. However, the biggest speculation is of course, the PlayStation 5. Many speculations state that the reason they’re skipping those two big events is to work on the upcoming PS5 console. Of course, these are just speculations, though it’s safe to assume that they might just drop news on the new console by 2020.

As for now, all we have to do is wait and see what else Sony will do…
