Years after ending, Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket manga is returning for a new anime adaptation. This time, it will be a complete remake of the classic anime, though it will be adapting the entire manga this time around. And with all the hype surrounding the anime, the staff have now revealed a new trailer:

There’s still no specific release date yet, though we know it’s gonna premiere sometime in 2019. The original anime premiered in July 2001 and ended its run in December of the same year. This would make this new anime premiering almost 20 years after the previous one aired.

As per mangaka Natsuki Takaya’s request, the new anime will have a completely new cast. It comprises of:

  • Manaka Iwami as Tohru Honda
  • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuki Sohma
  • Yuuma Uchida as Kyo Sohma
  • Yuuichi Nakamura as Shigure Sohma

Previously, DEEN adapted the manga into a 24-episode TV anime. Now, TMS Entertainment is taking over the adaptation, with Yoshihide Ibata directing it. As for the character designs, Masaru Shindou is designing the characters, while Takaya-sensei herswelf is serving as executive supervisor.
