Mickey Mouse is celebrating his 90th anniversary, and several mangaka are joining in on the celebrations. And they’re not just ordinary mangaka, but five bestselling mangaka, each of which have anime adaptations. They recently tried their hand at drawing Mickey, and several bookstores will be releasing book covers featuring their artworks:
Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan)
Oh great! (Air Gear)
Yuki Suetsugu (Chihayafuru)
Hikaru Nakamura (Arakawa Under the Bridge)
Tsutomu Nihei (Knights of Sidonia)
It’s all part of the Kodansha Spring Manga Festival 2019 campaign, which kicks off on 19th April. Several bookstores in Japan will be giving away these book covers, as well as the chance to win a ticket to Tokyo Disney Sea! Those who purchase two kodansha books, both paperback and digital, get to join the raffle to decide the Tokyo Disney Sea ticket winners.
In addition, Kodansha will also be releasing a special Micky Mouse 90th anniversary artbook. It will be a bit grander than this campaign, as it will feature 120 mangaka drawing Disney’s biggest icon.
