As of writing, they did not reveal any further details to this sequel film yet. Previously, they announced a sequel project for the series, but didn’t reveal its format. But now, we know that it will be a feature-length film project rather than a TV anime.

The anime adapts Akihito Tsukushi’s critically-acclaimed Made in Abyss manga. It is set in a world where the only unexplored portion is a gigantic pit known as the “Abyss”. Orphan girl Rico dreams of becoming a Raider one day, just like her mom. One day, she meets a robot boy, and rekindles the search for her lost mother inside the “Abyss”.
