The time-displaced samurai  of Bakumatsu are returning for a second season! The anime’s staff have revealed that the second season’s title is Bakumatsu Crisis, and it will premiere on 4 April 2019. They also revealed a new key visual for this second season as well:

Studio DEEN will once again be animating the series, though it will have a new director. Mitsutoshi Satou will be the new director, replacing
Masaki Watanabe at the helm of the project. Here’s the first season’s synopsis, according to Crunchyroll, which officially streams the anime:

“This story takes place during the Bakumatsu era in Japan. Japan’s history looked bleak during this time, and many passionate men fought over hegemony within the country, various ideals in their hearts. Shinsaku Takasugi, a samurai warrior from Choshu, attempts to sneak onto a ship run by Yoshinobu Tokugawa, his partner Kogoro Katsura at his side. Takasugi and Katsura aim to steal a legendary treasure that is said to have the ability to control time: the pocket watch “Jishingi.” However, the moment they obtain the watch, it is stolen from them by a woman dressed in black. “

The staff also revealed that much of the cast are returning to reprise their roles as well. Meanwhile, Hi!Superb will be performing the OP song, “Brave Rejection”, while Zwei will perform the song “Aoki Honou” as the ED song.
