Hello Kitty is one of Japan’s most beloved mascot characters. And now, the iconic character is getting a brand new animated series, this time by French animation studio Monello Productions. They will be co-producing the anime with Sanrio, and it will debut in the first quarter of 2021.

The new upcoming series will have a total of 52 11-minute episodes. Its title is “The World of Hello Kitty”, and here is how Monello Productions describes it:

The World of Hello Kitty will feature the famous titular character along with her friends from the Sanrio universe as they try to live in harmony in their not-so-quiet neighbourhood. Kitty’s friends are all very different and they each have their little quirks, so their tight-knit community is often put to the test. But at the end of the day, Kitty always brings them back together, because she accepts her friends for who they are.

Asahi Broadcasting Corporation International will distribute the series in Asia. Meanwhile, Kids First, a subsidiary of Monello Productions and Watch Next Media, will be financing the series, as well as distributing it outside of Asia.
