50 years ago, Humanoid Monster Bem debuted in Japanese TV. And in celebration of the anime’s golden anniversary, they have announced a brand new TV anime! It will bring a more modern feel to the classic, and will have a new cast. They even released a brand new key visual as well:

This new anime’s title is just simply “BEM”, and it stars Katsuyuki Konishi as Bem, M.A.O was Bela, and Kensho Ono as Belo. LandQ Studios is animating this new series in collaboration with NAS and Production I.G. Yoshinori Odaka will be directing it, with Atsuhiro Tomioka adapting Range Murata’s original character designs.

Unfortunately, they did not reveal whether or not this new series will be a completely new work or a remake. If it is, this would be a second remake for the series, as it previously had one in 2006. As for the original, it ran from 1968 to 1969 and had 26 episodes. It follows a trio of youkai who fight for justice, hoping to become humans. Unfortunately, both their fellow youkai and the humans they protect shun them.
