The Kyoto International Manga Museum is one of the biggest collections of manga in Japan. It also attracts a lot of foreign visitors from around the world. Unfortunately, the manga museum doesn’t really cater much to these foreign visitors, as they don’t even have English guided tours. However, things are about to change.

With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics happening next year, Japan is about to get even more foreign visitors. And now, they’re planning on implementing English guided tours by next year. In fact, they’re doing a test run of that tour until 1st March. These test runs have two 45-minute tours every day until its end date.

The manga museum does have written guides in English, though they don’t have any verbal guides. This might often confuse many visitors, and the addition is certainly a welcome one.

Established in 2006, the Kyoto International Manga Museum houses over 300,000 manga. These include some very rare copies, as well as some very old ones. It’s just a two-minute walk from the Karasuma-Oike Subway Station.
