Detective Conan: Fist of the Blue Sapphire has now made its long-awaited Japanese premiere. And from the looks of things, it broke the record for having the biggest opening in the entire Detective Conan franchise. And yes folks, this is the one set in Singapore!

On its opening day, the film earned 422,465,000 yen on 313,724 tickets sold. It has surpassed the previous record set by the 22nd film, Zero the Enforcer, and many are saying it may also surpass its 9,18 billion yen box office record by the time it ends its cinema run. It is also poised to dethrone Doraemon: Nobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration at the top of the Japanese box office as well. The 39th Doraemon film has dominated the Japanese box office at #1 for six straight weeks.
